Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with setting up a custom fire alarm lighting system using the HM-LC-RGBW-WM controller. It’s been a fun project and I hope it can inspire others or provide some tips!
First, my goal was to create a visible and attention-grabbing light sequence that could act as a fire alarm signal. I programmed it to cycle through 2 red flashes, 2 blue flashes, 1 red blink, and 1 blue blink, all in a loop. The idea was to make it as noticeable as possible without being too disruptive.
One challenge I faced was figuring out how to automate the program without needing to trigger it manually every time. I managed to set it up so that the program starts with a single command and runs for a set duration before turning off automatically. This was a bit tricky, but the Home Assistant automation editor really helped me piece it all together.
I also integrated this setup with my existing smart home system. For example, if the smoke detector goes off, it triggers the fire alarm light sequence automatically. It’s a small touch, but it adds an extra layer of safety and awareness.
If anyone is looking to do something similar, I’d recommend starting with simple programs and gradually building up complexity. Testing each part of the sequence individually before combining them was key for me. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for advice or troubleshooting—everyone here is really helpful!
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something like this or has tips for improving the setup. Happy tinkering! ![]()
