Customizing Doorbell Chime with Fibaro Button

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a fun project I recently completed to customize my front-door chime using the Fibaro Button. I’ve always been a bit of a tinkerer, and when I came across this solution, I knew it was the perfect way to integrate my doorbell into my smart home setup.

The idea was to replace the traditional doorbell with something a bit more modern and customizable. After some research, I decided on using a Fibaro Button to control the chime. The setup involved mounting a 12V relay over the coil in the chime unit, which then connects to the Fibaro Button. This allows the chime to be triggered wirelessly, and I couldn’t be happier with the result!

Here’s a quick breakdown of the setup:

  • Relay Installation: I mounted a 12V relay over the existing coil in the chime unit. This was a bit tricky, but with some careful wiring, it all came together.
  • Fibaro Button Integration: The relay is connected to the Fibaro Button, which acts as the trigger. This means I can now control the chime from anywhere in the house or even remotely if I set it up that way.
  • Battery Life: I was worried about battery life at first, but the Fibaro Button has been running smoothly for several months now. I’m hoping it will last for a couple of years before needing a replacement.

One thing I learned during this project is the importance of proper wiring and ensuring all connections are secure. A minor issue with the relay almost derailed the entire project, but after a quick adjustment, everything worked perfectly.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has any tips for improving this setup. It’s been a great addition to my smart home, and I’m excited to see how else I can customize it in the future. Thanks for reading, and happy tinkering! :rocket:
