Customizing Media Entities: A Learning Journey

I’ve been diving into the world of customizing my media devices in Home Assistant, and it’s been quite the adventure! My goal was to create a unified view for all my media players, with a focus on having consistent power and media control buttons across all entities. While some devices automatically appeared with these controls, others required a bit more tweaking, especially when they weren’t already powered on.

I started by configuring my Living Room TV using the webostv integration, which worked out smoothly. However, when I tried adding my Bedroom TV, I ran into some issues with the braviatv_psk platform, particularly with source filtering. After some trial and error, I realized that removing the problematic configuration and relying on the default settings was the way to go.

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that all devices had the same level of control, regardless of their current state. I discovered that using templates and customizing the source list could help maintain consistency. While there were a few warnings along the way, I managed to work through them by carefully adjusting my configuration.

This journey taught me a lot about the flexibility of Home Assistant and the importance of thorough testing. I’m now able to enjoy a seamless media experience across all my devices, and I’m excited to continue refining my setup. If anyone has tips or tricks for further customization, I’d love to hear them! :video_game::tv:
