I’ve been on an exciting journey customizing my smart home dashboard, and I’d love to share my experience with you! Over the past few months, I’ve been working on creating a custom theme for Habpanel called Plump. The goal was to give my dashboard a sleek, modern look with rounded widgets that make everything feel more polished and cohesive.
While the theme isn’t fully complete yet, it’s already been a rewarding project. I’ve focused on making it easy for others to use by relying on a single CSS file. This means you can choose your own background image to match the season or your mood, and it’s simple to tweak the colors and transparency to suit your preferences.
One of the best parts of this project has been seeing how others have adapted it. Some users prefer a dark theme, while others love the light version. The transparency feature has been a hit too, letting the background image peek through the widgets for a unique look.
However, there are still some areas that need work, especially when it comes to different screen sizes. The theme looks fantastic on 16:9 screens, but I’m still tweaking it to ensure it’s just as good on mobile devices and tablets. If you’re interested in trying it out, here’s how you can get started:
- Download the CSS Files: You can find the files for both dark and light themes in the attachments below.
- Upload to Your Device: Place the CSS files and any background image you’d like into the
/etc/openhab2/html/themesfolder. - Configure Habpanel: In Habpanel’s settings, select the CSS file you want to use. For example,
/static/themes/plump-dark.cssfor the dark theme. - Customize Away: The CSS is easy to edit, so feel free to change colors, transparency levels, and more to make it your own.
If you give it a try, I’d love to see how it looks on your setup! Feel free to share your screenshots or any suggestions you might have. Let’s make this theme even better together!
