Desk Lighting Setup & Automation Tips

Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share my latest project—a huge lighting setup for my desk! :rocket: I’ve been working on it for a while, and it’s finally coming together. I’ve got a floor lamp, Wi-Fi LED strips, and even some LED bars—all controlled through my smart home system. It’s been a blast experimenting with different lighting scenarios, from bright task lighting to softer ambient setups. The integration with my voice controls has been seamless, and I’m loving how everything ties into my routines.

However, I hit a snag when trying to automate my home/away modes. I wanted a simple dashboard button to toggle between the two, but it wasn’t working as expected. After some research, I realized the issue was with how the trigger IDs were being handled. Buttons are stateless, so I needed a workaround. I ended up using an input boolean to track the state changes, which solved the problem. It’s a bit of a hack, but it works perfectly now!

If anyone else is dealing with similar automation challenges, I’d love to hear your solutions or tips. Also, if you’re into lighting setups, feel free to share your favorite configurations or any cool projects you’ve been working on! :star2:
