Dimmer Switch H2 EU looses connection with the Matter system

About a month ago I installed 5 pieces “Dimmer Switch H2 EU” in my home, all of them running over Matter/Thread and connected to Apple Home. A week ago one of them lost connection, and whatever I tried (even reseting the whole house mains), there was no way to reconnect it. However it was functional, I could switch the lamp on and off, dimm it, etc. Only thing was, when the lamp was on, the LED ring was red (unusual). The only solution was removing it from Aqara and Apple Home, factory reset the dimmer and add it again to both Aqara and Apple homes.

Now, today a second dimmer played the same story: no connection, neither in Aqara, nor in Apple Homes. Power cycle, restart Aqara App, restart the HomePod (border router), nothing helped. Same red ring when switching the lamp on. Again, the only solution was removal from Aqara and Apple Homes, factory reset and adding it again to both homes.

If this is the normal behaviour, then I regret switching to Aqara (previously I used Instafunk based dimmers from Gira, and yes, they are not Apple Home compatible, but they were very reliable for more than 25 years!)

FW version is 1.0.0.0. Any similar experiences? Any solutions?

Hello @lix111
If you only use Aqara home and Homekit, I would recommend that you switch the dimmers to Zigbee mode and use them in this mode.

Yes, I think the Zigbee firmware is more stable, I have already switched the first one which failed to Zigbee mode, but it is too early to tell if it’s better. The second one is still running with the Thread firmware, if it fails again I will switch it to Zigbee too.

In my opinion Matter/Thread is the future, therefore I only buy Matter compatible accessories for my Smart Home, but right now we are in a transition phase. I believe that pure Zigbee will fade off with time (in fact Thread runs over Zigbee more or less, and both over IEEE 802.15.4).
