Is there a possibility to connect a button to the U200?
My goal is to set up a connection that works without a hub, central unit, or anything of the sort—just like the connection between the keypad and the lock.
@siers At the moment there isn’t any documented way (in the info we have) to directly wire/pair an external “button/switch” to the U200 for local unlock the same way the official keypad talks to the lock—Aqara only explicitly covers the keypad and ecosystem-based control paths.
What we can confirm from the available docs/community summaries:
- The U200 can be used after initial setup without constantly relying on a phone/app, but a smartphone is required for the initial connection to Aqara Home or another Matter ecosystem (then add admin + calibrate).
- For anything like remote unlocking / app control / voice control, it needs to be on a Matter + Thread setup (e.g., an Aqara Thread hub like M3 for Aqara Home, or an Apple Home hub for HomeKit, etc.).
If your end goal is “press a physical button → unlock”, today the practical approach is usually:
- Aqara wireless button + automation, but that will require an Aqara hub / Matter controller + Thread border router (so it won’t meet your “no hub/central unit” requirement).
If you want, tell me which ecosystem you’re trying to avoid (Aqara hub, Apple Home hub, etc.) and whether this is for inside-only unlocking—then we can narrow down the cleanest supported setup.

The lock and keypad operate autonomously using their own power supply. Currently, I have a switch inside next to the door to unlock it; this switch is connected via Home Assistant. It works great so far, but simply doesn’t work at all during a power outage.
However, the entrance door also serves as the apartment’s escape route.
I know that I can get the lock to disengage by slightly turning the knob.

@siers Totally get the concern here—if this door is part of your escape route, having an “automation-only” unlock path that dies with mains power is not ideal.
From what’s documented for the U200, Aqara only exposes local, hub-free interaction via the official keypad over Bluetooth (and normal mechanical operation from the inside). There isn’t any documented way to directly wire/pair an external wall switch/button to the U200 for local unlock “like the keypad” (no dry-contact input / no local button interface mentioned in the available materials).
What is supported locally (and is relevant to your power-outage scenario): the U200 can do indoor Quiet Unlock/Lock by slowly turning the indoor knob, as long as the feature is enabled in Aqara Home (“auxiliary rotation feature”). That matches what you’ve observed (“slightly turning the knob” disengages).
If your main goal is “button press unlock” and it must survive a power outage, you’ll likely need either:
- a controller/automation stack that remains powered during outages (UPS for the hub/router/HA host), or
- rely on the lock’s mechanical inside operation as the emergency egress path (which it sounds like you already have).
