Diverse Problems with Remote Access via Fritzbox

Hello everyone, I’m reaching out to the community to seek some guidance on an issue I’ve been struggling with. I’ve been trying to set up remote access to my Home Assistant instance using DuckDns and port forwarding on my Fritzbox router. Despite following Simon’s video guide meticulously, I’m still facing some hurdles.

First, I’ll walk you through what I’ve done so far:

  1. DuckDns Configuration: I’ve set up my DuckDns account and configured it to point to my external IP address.
  2. Port Forwarding on Fritzbox: I’ve opened the necessary ports on my Fritzbox to allow incoming traffic to my Home Assistant instance.
  3. HTTPS and Certificate Setup: I’ve gone through the additional steps to configure HTTPS, including setting up certificates. This part seems to be working as I can access my Home Assistant instance locally via HTTPS, albeit with a certificate warning.

Now, the challenges I’m facing:

  • Logfile Issue: When trying to view the DuckDns logfile, I encounter an error message: “Failed to get core_duckdns logs, e.callApiRaw is not a function.” This is perplexing as I’m not familiar with this error, and it’s preventing me from diagnosing the problem further.
  • External Access Timeout: The main issue is that I still can’t access my Home Assistant instance from outside my local network using the DuckDns address. The connection times out, which is frustrating after spending so much time setting everything up.

I’ve tried troubleshooting by resetting my Fritzbox, checking the port forwarding settings multiple times, and even contacting my ISP to ensure there are no restrictions on the ports I’m using. Nothing seems to resolve the issue.

I’m hoping someone in the community might have encountered a similar problem or could offer some insights. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Let’s work together to figure this out.

Best regards,
Reka
