I did something similar with the IKEA Varmblixt (aka the donut).
Since the original light was too bright, not dimmable, and not orange enough, I installed an Aqara light strip.
I left the original power supply and the original lamp (COB LED strip) in place so I could downgrade at any time.
I threaded the Aqara LED strip through the hole in the wall mount and then slightly raised the donut so it would sit flat again.
