Christmas is just around the corner, and I’m thrilled to share my latest DIY project with the community! This year, I decided to take my holiday decorations to the next level by integrating some smart tech into my home. I’ve always been a fan of DIY projects, especially when they involve a bit of creativity and some smart home magic.
I’ve been working on creating a custom star-shaped light display for my front yard. The idea came to me when I saw some stunning star decorations online, but they were a bit out of my budget. So, I decided to make my own! I used some simple materials—wooden planks, LED strip lights, and a bit of paint. The result? A beautiful, glowing star that adds a festive touch to my home.
But it wouldn’t be a proper smart home project without some automation, right? I integrated the LED strips with my Govee smart switches, allowing me to control the brightness and color of the lights from my phone. I even set up some routines usingIFTTTto have the lights change colors based on the time of day or specific events.
One thing I’d love to hear more about is how others have integrated their DIY projects into their smart home ecosystems. Have you tried anything similar? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks for combining creativity with technology!
Merry Christmas and happy automating! ![]()
