DIY Christmas Lights and Smart Home Tips

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent DIY Christmas lights project and some smart home tips I’ve picked up along the way. It’s been a fun way to get into the holiday spirit while also integrating some smart tech into my home setup.First off, I’ve been experimenting with DIY Christmas lights using some old rope lights. It’s been a great way to recycle and save some money. I’ve paired them with some smart plugs to control the lights via my phone. It’s amazing how a little DIY can transform your space without breaking the bank!On the smart home front, I’ve been really impressed with Govee’s outdoor string lights. They’re incredibly bright and customizable, with 16 million colors and scene modes. I’ve used them to set up some beautiful scenes around my garden. The app control is super smooth, and the IR remote is a great backup option.Another thing I’ve been working on is setting up a simple UPS for my smart home hub. I found a clever way to use an old tablet and a dual micro-USB cable to keep my hub powered during outages. It’s a bit of a hack, but it works perfectly and keeps everything running smoothly.I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on integrating DIY projects with smart tech. Have you tried any fun DIY smart home projects lately? Also, I’m curious if anyone else has had success with Govee products or similar setups. Let’s share and inspire each other!Lastly, I’ve been thinking about how to improve the user experience in the Picture Elements Card. Managing so many sensors can get overwhelming, so having features like search or external code editors would be amazing. It would make maintaining and updating configurations much easier. I’d love to hear if anyone else has suggestions or workarounds for this.Happy holidays and happy smart home tinkering! :christmas_tree::sparkles:
