I’ve been really inspired by the concept of BioCentric Lighting, which adjusts color temperature and brightness to mimic natural daylight. After visiting the BrainLit office in Lund, I decided to recreate this system at home using Homey. My goal was to create a lighting setup that automatically follows the sun, provides full brightness, and allows for custom scenes.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Created a HomeyScript to adjust color temperature and brightness variables in Better Logic.
- Set up a Flow to apply these settings to specific lights when they’re turned on.
But I’m still working on a few things:
- Continuous updating of lights in ‘circadian’ mode.
- Grouping lights in each room for different modes.
- Handling modes where updating is inactive.
- Supporting bulbs and LED strips with varying capabilities.
Is using HomeyScripts and Flows the best approach, or should I consider building a custom app? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
For those interested in similar projects, I recommend starting with small adjustments and gradually integrating more features. It’s a rewarding process that can significantly improve your daily comfort.
