I just wanted to share a fun DIY project I did over the weekend using my Govee smart lights. It’s been a great way to customize my home and add some festive cheer!
Project Overview
I decided to create a dynamic lighting setup for my living room using Govee’s LED strip lights. The goal was to have customizable scenes for different occasions—like movie nights, parties, or just relaxing.
Materials Needed

- Govee remote control
- Smartphone
- Optional: mounting brackets
Setup Steps
- Installation: I started by running the LED strips along the baseboards and around the ceiling. It was surprisingly easy to install using the adhesive backing!
- Pairing: Using the Govee app, I paired the lights with my smartphone. The process was smooth and only took a few minutes.
- Scene Creation: I created different scenes in the app, like “Cinema Mode” with dim red lighting and “Party Mode” with vibrant colors.
- Automation: I set up some basic automations, like turning the lights on at sunset and cycling through colors on weekends.
