Hey , Share a quick story about how I pieced together a solid little home alert setup using mostly Aqara stuff and Apple HomeKit.

Backstory: I recently had a package “mysteriously vanish” off my porch (classic), and that got me diving headfirst into smart home gear. I’m not exactly a pro—I’d say enthusiastic beginner—but I’ve now got a setup that actually works and gives me peace of mind.

I started with the Aqara Hub M2, then added a few door/window sensors, motion sensors, and a G2H Pro cam. Everything nicely integrated with HomeKit, no weird workarounds. The best part? I set up automations like:

  • Motion at front door after 10PM? Lights on + phone alert.
  • Door opens when I’m not home? Loud-ass HomePod siren goes off.
  • Unexpected motion in living room while I’m at work? Camera records + sends me a clip instantly.

Honestly, the Home app + Aqara combo makes it so easy to put together alerts without needing a monthly security service.
