Recently, I completed a fun DIY project using Govee RGB IC strip lights in a shadow box, and I wanted to share my experience with the community! 
The idea came to me while planning my living room decor. I wanted something modern and vibrant that could also serve as a functional light source. After some research, I decided on Govee strip lights due to their versatility and wide range of color options.
The Process:
- Design Planning: I sketched out the layout of the shadow box and decided on the placement of the lights. I opted for a clean, minimalist design to complement the room’s aesthetic.
- Installation: Mounting the lights was a breeze with the included adhesive strips. I used a mix of warm white and RGB settings to create a dynamic effect.
- Testing: The lights came to life instantly, and the color transitions were smoother than I expected. I was thrilled with how they enhanced the room’s ambiance.
Challenges and Tips:
- Wiring: I initially struggled with the wiring setup, but using a power injector solved the voltage drop issue.
- Color Calibration: Experimenting with different color modes helped me find the perfect balance for my space.
Outcome: The shadow box now serves as a stunning centerpiece in my living room, and it’s been a great conversation starter during gatherings. The Govee lights have exceeded my expectations in terms of brightness, color variety, and ease of use.
