Recently, I decided to enhance my home’s ambiance with a DIY Pastel Sunset lighting setup. Inspired by a beautiful sunset photo I captured, I wanted to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that my cats also seem to love. I chose RGBW light strips and integrated them into my home automation system using Hubitat Elevation.
The setup involved creating a rule to change the light strip colors based on specific times of the day, mimicking the natural hues of a sunset. I also experimented with integrating this with my existing smart devices to ensure seamless control.
While the initial setup was straightforward, I encountered a minor issue with the activation of the Rule-Library (RL) device after a recent update. The delay in switching back to color temperature (CT) mode was frustrating, but after some troubleshooting, I discovered that restarting the RL app resolved the problem.
This project has been incredibly rewarding. Not only does it provide a calming environment, but it also serves as a great example of how smart home devices can be creatively utilized. I’m now considering expanding this setup to other rooms, perhaps incorporating motion sensors for added convenience.
If you’re looking to add a touch of nature-inspired lighting to your home, I highly recommend exploring RGBW strips and integrating them with your smart home system. The results are truly stunning and can be easily customized to suit any aesthetic.
