Hi everyone, I wanted to share my latest DIY smart home project with you all! I’ve been experimenting with ESPHome and physical buttons, and I’ve got to say, it’s been a lot of fun. I decided to create four physical buttons for my family, each with different functions. They can be pressed once, twice, or held down to dim the lights. The LED on the button even lights up when it’s dark outside, which is super handy.
Here’s a quick overview of what I did: I used ESPHome to program the buttons and set up different automation scenarios. For example, pressing a button once could turn on the lights, while holding it down adjusts the brightness. It’s been a great way to make my home a bit smarter without needing to pull out my phone every time.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has any tips for improving the setup. I’m also curious if anyone has experience with integrating these buttons with other smart home systems or apps. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Giel
