Hey everyone, I wanted to share a fun project I’ve been working on that combines my love for retro gaming and smart home tech! Inspired by the classic Pacman DIY projects I’ve seen online, I decided to take it a step further by integrating some smart home features into my own setup. 
I’ve always been a fan of the arcade aesthetic, so I thought why not turn my living room into a mini retro gaming zone? I started by creating a custom Pacman-themed wall display using RGB lighting strips and some clever wiring. The best part? I connected it to my smart home system so I can control the lighting and effects through my phone or voice commands! 
Here’s how I did it:
- Lighting Setup: I used Govee RGB strips to create the glowing effect around the Pacman cutout. The strips are controlled via my Homey system, allowing me to set custom scenes for different moods or gaming sessions.
- Smart Integration: I added motion sensors near the display so the lights automatically brighten when someone walks by. It’s a cool way to greet guests or just add some ambiance to my game nights.
- Voice Control: Using Alexa, I can say “Hey, turn on the arcade mode” and the lights cycle through different colors and patterns, creating the perfect gaming atmosphere.
The result? My living room now feels like a mini arcade, and it’s been a hit with friends and family! Plus, it’s a great conversation starter when people come over.
