I recently completed a DIY project that combines technology and creativity, and I wanted to share my experience with the community! ![]()
A while back, I built an RGBIC Infinity Mirror using a strip of RGBIC LEDs. It’s such a stunning addition to my home, and I highly recommend giving it a try! If anyone has questions or needs tips, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to help. You can find some great tutorials on YouTube, but I’m happy to share my own process too!
While working on this project, I started thinking about how to integrate it into my existing smart home setup. One thing I’ve been struggling with is organizing my automations in the GUI. I’d love to group them with labels or categories so that my list is more structured and easier to navigate. Has anyone found a good way to do this? I’m open to suggestions!
Another thing I’ve been curious about is the delay unit in scripts. I’ve noticed that when I set a delay, it doesn’t always behave as expected. For example, if I put ‘3’ in the delay field, does that mean 3 seconds, 3 milliseconds, or something else? I’d really appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me. Understanding the timing units is crucial for creating smooth automations!
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with smart locks and have been impressed by how much they’ve improved my daily routine. They add a layer of convenience and security that I never realized I needed. If anyone is on the fence about connecting their lock to the internet, I’d say it’s worth exploring—just make sure to prioritize security settings!
Lastly, I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with DIY smart home projects. Have you built something unique or found a creative way to integrate technology into your space? I’d love to hear your stories and maybe get some inspiration for my next project! ![]()
Let’s keep sharing ideas and learning from each other—this community is amazing! Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your thoughts! ![]()
