Hey Govee community! I wanted to share an exciting DIY project I recently completed that turned out even better than I expected. ![]()
After seeing some amazing ambilight setups online, I decided to create my own version using Govee LED strips. The goal was to replicate the vibrant, dynamic lighting effects seen in professional setups but at a fraction of the cost. Little did I know, this project would not only enhance my TV viewing experience but also reignite my passion for DIY electronics!
The setup involved attaching a Govee LED strip behind my TV and connecting it to a Raspberry Pi with a camera module. The camera captures the TV’s screen and adjusts the LED colors in real-time to match the video output. The results are absolutely stunning—movies, games, and even live sports have a whole new level of immersion!
What I love most about this project is how accessible it is for anyone with a basic understanding of electronics. The Govee LED strip was easy to install, and the Raspberry Pi handled the processing with ease. I even added a motion sensor to turn the lights off when no one’s in the room, saving energy without sacrificing functionality.
This project has been a fantastic way to combine my hobbies of electronics and home theater. It’s also been a great conversation starter with friends who are amazed by how it all works together. If you’re looking for a fun and rewarding DIY project, I highly recommend giving this a try! ![]()
Would love to hear if anyone else has attempted something similar or has tips to take this setup to the next level! ![]()
