In particular, I’m interested in using the feature that monitors energy consumption. According to the Eve web site, this part of the functionality is only supported through Samsung Smart Things. So, I would have to buy a matter compatible Samsung Smart Things hub in order to access what I want?
While I am comfortable with programming, home automation is a new world for me.

Hi @patrick_peters why don’t wait for the outdoor plug from Aqara - unfortunately there’s no official release date- but the outdoor plug was announced in September at The IFA
It sure has power consumption on board and you can stay in the Aqara ecosystem / Matter
That announcement was all European and UK products. Hopefully there will be matching products in the US. Also, I’d rather have an outlet than a plug. Maybe this project will just have to wait for the market to mature (a common issue, I’m finding).
