Trying to wrap my head around the key differences between the FP300 and FP2. Are there differences in optimal angle and placement as well? Does the FP300 support full functionality when ceiling mounted?

I think in that regard it will be similar to the FP2. if you can mount it in the ceiling in a way that the 120° are enough to see everything, then probably yes!
