I’m just wondering if I’d need a Hub for this? I bought a U50 not knowing that it needed additional hardware to work fully with the Google Home so I’m curious if that’s the same for the U400?

According to the third-party platform function list for the U400, when binding through an Aqara Matter hub, it supports remote unlocking/locking via Google Home. This is similar to your experience with the U50, which also needs a hub for Google Home integration.
