Hi there, I have the G410 doorbell hub, and noticed that the lens is visible at night. Is this normal, or do I have a Monday morning model? See picture
Hi and welcome to the forum!
This looks like a case of IR reflection or IR glare.
The doorbell is presumably mounted too close to the wall on the left, causing the infrared light to be reflected and directed back towards the lens. This creates a circular “halo” artefact and causes the camera to overexpose the rest of the image, making the background appear too dark.
The reason it looks exactly like the lens structure is because the intense IR light bouncing off the wall is causing an reflection (lens flare) inside the glass cover.
You need to install an angle mount (wedge) to turn the doorbell away from the wall. This will direct the IR light into the open space rather than against the wall.
Thnx for the suggestion. It’s not super close, but I’ll try to use a little wedge and see how it will react!
Perhaps it’s not the wall itself. There are two suspiciously bright spots. However, it’s difficult to say whether these are caused by reflections.
The spot on the right is probably just caused by the glass dome, but the top left is really bright.
Ahhh, good call. I have printed a roof for it. I’ll remove it first and see what happens ![]()
You were so right! The printed cover caused the issue!
You rock!
