Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me figure out this odd issue I’m having with my smart home setup. I’ve been using Home Assistant with a Shelly 1 to control my doorbell, and I’ve set up an automation to send a snapshot to my Telegram group whenever someone presses the doorbell. It’s been working pretty well, but there’s one quirk that’s been bugging me.
Here’s the deal: when I manually trigger the automation by pressing execute, it works perfectly—it sends one snapshot to Telegram, just as I want it to. But when the doorbell itself is pressed, it sends two identical snapshots instead of one. It’s not a huge deal-breaker, but it’s a bit annoying, especially when I’m trying to keep things streamlined.
I suspect it might have something to do with how the Shelly 1 is configured or how the automation is set up, but I’m not entirely sure. I’ve double-checked my configuration, and everything seems to be in order. The Shelly 1 is set up as a switch, and the automation triggers on the switch’s state change. The camera snapshot and Telegram send actions are both set to run once, so I’m not sure why it’s sending two photos.
Has anyone else encountered something like this? I’d love to hear if you’ve had similar issues or if there’s a workaround or fix I can try. Maybe there’s a setting on the Shelly 1 I’m missing or a tweak to the automation that could resolve this duplication issue.
Thanks in advance for any help or insights you can offer! I’m really enjoying using Home Assistant and the Shelly devices, and I can’t wait to get this little hiccup sorted out. ![]()
