Easter DIY Project with Smart Home Integration

Happy Easter everyone! :rabbit: I wanted to share a fun DIY project I recently completed to get into the Easter spirit while incorporating some smart home tech. I’ve always loved DIY crafts, and this year I decided to take it up a notch by integrating my smart home devices into the mix. :notes:This year, I decided to create a smart Easter egg hunt display using my Govee LED strips and a Raspberry Pi. The idea was to have the lights change colors and patterns as the eggs were placed in their designated spots. It sounds a bit complex, but it was actually quite simple to set up! Here’s a quick rundown of how I did it:1. Materials Needed: - Govee LED strips (I used the RGBIC H6117 model for its versatility) - A Raspberry Pi (any model will do) - Some basic wiring and connectors - Easter-themed decorations (eggs, bunnies, etc.) 2. Setup: - I connected the LED strips to my Raspberry Pi using a simple GPIO setup. - I programmed the Raspberry Pi to detect when an egg was placed in a specific spot using a motion sensor. - Once the motion was detected, the LED strips would change colors and patterns to indicate the next clue. 3. Smart Home Integration: - I integrated the system with my Home Assistant setup so that the lights could be controlled via voice commands or the HA app. - It was a fun way to combine my love for DIY projects with my growing collection of smart home gadgets. The end result was a beautiful, interactive Easter display that my family and friends absolutely loved! It was a great way to get everyone involved and add a bit of tech flair to the traditional Easter egg hunt. :tada:If anyone has any questions about the setup or wants tips on how to incorporate smart tech into their DIY projects, feel free to ask! I’d love to help others bring their creative ideas to life. Happy Easter, everyone! :rabbit::sparkles:
