Hey everyone, I’ve been having some trouble with my Echo Show 5 2nd Gen and I’m hoping someone here might have some insights or solutions. Let me start by saying I’ve tried the usual troubleshooting steps—I’ve reset the device multiple times, re-registered it, and ensured it’s fully updated. Despite all that, the issues persist, and it’s been quite frustrating.
The first sign of trouble was when the Echo Show stopped controlling my Philips Hue lights. Now, it insists that my bedroom light doesn’t support the commands I’m giving it, even though it worked perfectly before. To rule out the light as the culprit, I tested it with an older Echo Dot in the same room, and it worked without any issues. So, the problem definitely lies with the Echo Show.
Another concerning issue is that the Echo Show isn’t accessing any of the skills or personal playlists that my other Alexa devices can handle. For instance, when I ask it to play my Absolute Radio Premium service, it tells me I don’t have Premium access—ironically, my Echo Dot has no trouble playing the same service. Similarly, when I try to play a BBC radio station, it fails and suggests linking my BBC account, which isn’t necessary because my Echo Dot plays BBC radio without any issues.
The Echo Show also seems to have trouble with playlists. Instead of playing the one I request, it defaults to a ‘rediscover’ playlist set up by Amazon. It’s almost as if the device is operating in some sort of degraded mode, barely useful beyond showing photos from my Amazon Photos account, which still works fine.
I’m really hoping the community can shed some light on this. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Echo Show devices? Are there any specific settings or additional troubleshooting steps I might have missed? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
