Ecobee Home/Away Status Automation Issue

Hello everyone! I’m reaching out to the community for some guidance on a frustrating issue I’m encountering with my Ecobee thermostat. I’ve been trying to set up an automation where the door locks automatically when Ecobee detects that the house is ‘Away’. However, despite my best efforts, it doesn’t seem to trigger as expected.

Let me walk through what I’ve done so far. I’ve created a rule in my smart home platform that monitors the Ecobee’s Home/Away status. When it switches to ‘Away’, I want it to send a command to my smart lock to engage. The lock itself is working perfectly—it responds to manual commands and other automations. The problem seems to be specifically with detecting the ‘Away’ status from Ecobee.

I’ve double-checked the configuration in the Ecobee app to ensure that the ‘Away’ detection is enabled and properly set up. I’ve also tried re-pairing the Ecobee with my hub to rule out any connection issues. Despite these steps, the automation still doesn’t trigger.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? I’d love to hear if there are any workarounds or solutions that others have found effective. Maybe I’m missing a crucial step in the setup process or there’s a specific configuration that needs to be adjusted. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help and for being such a supportive community. Let’s keep those ideas flowing!
