I recently set up an automated system for my bathroom radio using motion sensors, and I wanted to share my experience in case others might find it helpful or inspiring. The goal was to have the radio turn on when I enter the bathroom and turn off after a short delay when I leave, without any manual intervention.
Here’s how I approached it: I used a motion sensor paired with a simple automation script. The sensor detects motion upon entry, triggering the radio to switch on. To ensure the radio doesn’t stay on indefinitely, I added a timer that activates once motion ceases. After a set period, the radio turns off automatically.
One challenge I encountered was ensuring the automation didn’t interfere with my sleep schedule. The radio operates between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, which aligns with my daily routine. I found that adjusting the sensor’s sensitivity and the timer duration made the system more reliable.
This setup has been a great convenience, especially during early mornings or late nights when I prefer a hands-off experience. It’s also been a fun project to tweak and optimize, exploring different automation rules and timing options.
