Efficient Family Collaboration with the Built-in Shopping List Integration

I wanted to share my experience with the built-in shopping list integration in Home Assistant, as it’s been a lifesaver for our family during the holiday season. We’ve been using it to coordinate our Thanksgiving dinner, and it’s worked out beautifully. Each family member can add the dishes they plan to bring by selecting items from the list and including their name. This collaborative approach has made planning so much easier and less stressful.

However, I encountered a small hiccup that I thought others might find helpful to know about. The issue was regarding the ‘Clear checked items’ button. While it’s a useful feature, I didn’t want our family members to accidentally clear the items they had selected. After some research and experimentation, I managed to find a workaround that involved custom JavaScript code and card-mod. It wasn’t straightforward, but persistence paid off!

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tips or tricks for optimizing the shopping list integration or has found creative ways to use it for family collaborations. Let’s keep the conversation going and share our experiences!
