Efficient Garage Door Automation with Geofencing and Smart Alerts

Hello everyone! I’ve been exploring ways to automate my garage door to prevent forgetfulness, and I wanted to share my journey and findings with you.

I’ve set up a geofencing rule that triggers a notification if I leave the house without closing the garage door. It’s incredibly handy, especially when I’m in a hurry. The system uses my phone’s location to detect when I’m outside the predefined perimeter and sends a push notification via my smart home hub. If I’m not already on my way back, it automatically closes the garage door after a short delay.

The setup involved configuring the geofence in my smart home app, linking it to my garage door opener, and setting up conditional actions. I also integrated this with my existing home security system so that any unusual activity around the garage is immediately flagged.

One challenge I faced was ensuring the geofence worked reliably, especially with varying signal strengths. I found that adjusting the buffer zone and testing different exit/entry points made a significant difference.

I’d love to hear how others have implemented similar systems or if there are additional features I could incorporate for even better automation. Let’s keep the ideas flowing! :rocket:
