Summer in Arizona brings intense heat, and maintaining proper irrigation has been a challenge. The app’s default settings for sun exposure maxed out at 6-8 hours, yet my zones receive full sun from sunrise to sunset. Additionally, the app’s moisture readings were inconsistent with reality, showing 50% saturation when the soil was bone dry.
To address this, I experimented with manual adjustments to the irrigation schedule. I found that extending the watering duration and increasing the frequency during peak heat provided better results. However, this required frequent monitoring and adjustments, which was time-consuming.
I discovered that tweaking the controller’s settings to account for higher evaporation rates and adjusting the moisture sensor thresholds helped improve accuracy. By doing so, I was able to maintain healthy landscaping without overwatering. This experience highlighted the importance of understanding local climate conditions when configuring smart irrigation systems.
