Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent project on controlling multiple zones of landscape lighting using a single transformer. I’ve always been on the lookout for cost-effective solutions, and I’m thrilled to say that I’ve found a fantastic setup using the Zooz ZEN16.
The goal was to control nine small lighting zones with one 300-watt transformer. The ZEN16 has been a game-changer here. It connects to the 12VAC side of the transformer and allows me to control three zones per device. What’s even better is how it integrates into my Hubitat system—it shows up as one main switch with three independent child switches. This setup makes it incredibly flexible, whether I want to control each zone individually or all at once.
One thing I’d like to highlight is the ease of wiring. I used Wago clips, which made connecting and disconnecting zones and controllers a breeze. It’s a small detail, but it really streamlined the installation process.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has tips for optimizing such setups. It’s always great to learn from the community’s experiences!
Happy DIY-ing everyone! ![]()
