Efficient Medicine Reminder Automation

As a busy parent with two active kids, keeping track of their medications has always been a challenge. That’s why I decided to create an automation system using Home Assistant to remind us when it’s time to take Motrin or Tylenol. This system has been a lifesaver for our family, especially during those long days when it’s easy to forget the schedule.

The setup involves a combination of timers and conditional logic. I use buttons on my Android phone and a touchscreen dashboard in the kitchen to start the countdowns. When the timer runs out, we receive a notification on our phones, ensuring we never miss a dose. The best part is that the system automatically hides the buttons when they’re not needed, keeping our dashboard clean.

I faced some challenges along the way, especially with getting the timers to work seamlessly. However, after some trial and error, I managed to create a system that is both reliable and user-friendly. I’m proud to share this solution with the community, hoping it can help others who might be struggling with medication schedules.

If you’re interested in setting up something similar, I recommend starting with simple timers and gradually adding more features as you become comfortable. It’s a great way to leverage smart home technology to improve daily life.
