Hello everyone, I’m excited to share my experience with the Ikea Styrbar remote and how I’m trying to optimize its use in my smart home setup. I recently purchased the Styrbar remote, which has left and right buttons, and I’m eager to utilize these buttons to switch between different scenes in my living room. However, I’ve encountered a bit of a challenge in finding the right automation solution to make this seamless.
I stumbled upon Statefull Scenes through HACS, which automatically creates a switch for each scene. While this is a great feature, it feels a bit cumbersome to toggle each switch individually. I’m hoping there’s a more elegant solution out there that allows me to cycle through scenes effortlessly with just a press of a button.
I’ve tried setting up some basic automations, but they haven’t quite hit the mark. For instance, I attempted to link the left button to the previous scene and the right button to the next scene, but the transitions aren’t smooth, and sometimes the scenes don’t switch at all. I’m curious if others have faced similar issues and how they’ve resolved them.
One idea I’m exploring is integrating the remote with a scene controller or a custom script that keeps track of the current scene and cycles through them in a predefined order. I’m also considering whether there’s a way to assign each button to a specific scene directly, bypassing the need for multiple switches. If anyone has successfully implemented something like this, I’d love to hear about your approach!
I’m really looking forward to finding a solution that makes my living room scenes as easy to navigate as flipping through channels on a TV. It would be fantastic to have a setup where I can press the left or right button and instantly switch to my desired scene without any delays or hiccups. Thanks in advance for any advice or tips you can share!
