Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up smart cameras for remote monitoring at my cabin. It’s been quite the journey, but I’ve learned a lot along the way.
The Challenge:
We have three Wyze v3 cameras installed at our cabin, which is about an hour and a half away from our home. The cameras are connected to a Nighthawk M6 Pro router that relies on an AT&T cell signal. Over the past year, we’ve faced recurring issues with the Wi-Fi connection dropping, causing the cameras to go offline. This has been frustrating, especially since it often requires a three-hour round trip to reset everything.
What I’ve Tried:
I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with AT&T and Wyze tech support, but the problem persists. The Nighthawk router supposedly has a battery backup that should reboot automatically during power outages or signal losses, but this doesn’t always happen. The cameras themselves require unplugging and replugging to reset, which is far from ideal.
Seeking Solutions:
I’m hoping to find a way to reset the cameras remotely to avoid the long drives. Could there be a firmware update or a configuration change that might help? Also, I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues with weak cell signals affecting their routers.
Additional Thoughts:
I’ve considered the possibility of a weak AT&T signal being the root cause, but I’m not sure how to test or improve it without professional equipment. Could there be a better router setup or a different service provider that might offer more reliable coverage in this area?
Would Love Your Input:
Has anyone else dealt with similar issues? How did you resolve them? Any advice on finding a permanent solution would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
