I stumbled upon a really neat solution that I wanted to share with the community! If you’re using the Simulated Alexa Switch DTH to trigger actions on your Alexa Echo, you can automatically reset the switch back to the ‘off’ state after use. This eliminates the need for a second automation and provides a much cleaner setup. Here’s how you can do it:1. Create a Virtual Switch: Start by creating a SmartThings device in the IDE with the type set to Virtual Switch.2. Set Up Automations: Create your SmartThings automations and enable the auto-turn-off feature with a delay of your choice (I recommend starting with 10 seconds).3. Change Device Type: In the IDE, change the device type to Simulated Alexa Switch. The auto-turn-off setting from the automation will still be retained.4. Discover on Alexa: Discover the new switch on your Alexa device.5. Create Alexa Routine: Set up your Alexa routine as needed.6. Test and Enjoy: Test everything to ensure it works seamlessly! This method is perfect for anyone looking to streamline their smart home setup. It’s a small tweak that makes a big difference in keeping things organized. If anyone has questions or suggestions for improvement, feel free to drop a comment! Happy automating! ![]()
