Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I wanted to share a quick and incredibly satisfying project I recently completed. Last night, I set up an automated system to fill my pool safely overnight, and I couldn’t be happier with how smooth it went! The Problem: I used to spend hours checking on my pool fill manually, especially at night. It was inconvenient and a bit nerve-wracking to ensure it didn’t overflow. The Solution: I decided to use my Homematic setup to handle this task. Here’s what I did: 1. Installed a Water Level Sensor: I placed a HM-Sec-WDS-2 water sensor on the top step of my pool. This sensor detects when the water reaches a certain level. 2. Connected to a Pump Switch: My pool pump is controlled by a HM-ES-PMSw1-PI-DN-R1 switch. I linked this switch to the water sensor. 3. Set Up a Direct Connection: Using the Homematic app, I created a direct link between the water sensor and the pump switch. The setup was straightforward and took only about 5 minutes! A Little Tip: Before finalizing, I briefly submerged the water sensor in water to ensure it communicated properly with my CCU. This small step made the whole system work seamlessly. The Result: Last night, I started the pool fill and went to bed without any worries. In the morning, I found the pool perfectly filled—no overflow, no mess! It was such a relief and a huge time-saver. This project was a delightful example of how smart home tech can simplify our lives.
