After 11 years with my trusty ISY 994i, I decided it was time to upgrade to Eisy. The transition has been mostly smooth, but I wanted to share my experience with the AEON Labs Z-Stick Gen5 USB Controller and how it integrates with Eisy.
1. Can Eisy Work with the Z-Stick? Yes, it can! I was pleasantly surprised that Eisy recognized the Z-Stick right out of the box. The setup process was straightforward, and I didn’t encounter any major issues during installation.
2. Z-Wave Functionality I was concerned about losing functionality with my Z-Wave devices, but everything works seamlessly. My lights, locks, and sensors are all communicating without a hitch. It’s reassuring to know that the Z-Wave ecosystem remains robust.
3. Backup Compatibility I was worried about whether my ISY backups would work with Eisy. After some research, I found that with a little tweaking, the backups are fully compatible. It’s a relief to have that safety net in place.
4. Future Plans I’m planning to eventually upgrade to the Z-Matter board, and from what I understand, the transition should be smooth. I’m excited about the potential for even more advanced features.
