Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience after diving deeper into integrating Aqara with Apple HomeKit. I’m not a tech wizard or anything—more like a smart home enthusiast who’s been experimenting and tinkering for a while.

I recently revamped my setup with a mix of Aqara motion sensors, door/window sensors, and the G4 cam, all synced up through the Aqara M2 hub. The seamlessness with HomeKit totally surprised me. Automations are now quick and super responsive—it’s like magic when my living room lights pop on the moment I walk in after sunset, or when the hallway lights trigger if motion is detected during the night.

The real game changer? Using Apple’s native automations to fine-tune behavior instead of just sticking to the Aqara app. I found the HK interface a bit more flexible for complex routines. For example, I’ve got it set up so that if my G4 detects motion and I’m not home, it pushes a rich notification with a snapshot, then turns on my living room lights.

One hiccup I had was keeping everything stable on the Wi-Fi network, especially with more devices coming online. I switched my routers to give priority to the HomeKit devices and things smoothed out.
