Energy Dashboard Automation & Monthly Energy Tracking

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into creating a comprehensive energy dashboard for my home and wanted to share my journey as well as seek some advice. My goal is to track my energy consumption more effectively, and I’ve found that automating this process has been both rewarding and a bit challenging.

First, I wanted to set up a system that logs my energy usage at the end of each month. I came across a method where you can use an input number sensor and automation to capture the data at 23:59 on the last day of each month. It’s a clever way to ensure consistency, but I’m curious if others have refined this approach further or encountered any quirks. For instance, does the automation reliably trigger every month, or are there edge cases where it might miss?

I’ve also been exploring how to integrate this data into a more user-friendly interface. Using Home Assistant’s built-in tools, I’ve managed to visualize the data, but I’m wondering if there are any third-party integrations or custom components that could enhance this further. Maybe something that provides historical trends or even predictive analytics based on past consumption?

Another aspect I’m experimenting with is combining this energy tracking with other smart home devices. For example, if my energy usage spikes, could I set up an automation that adjusts my thermostat or turns off non-essential appliances? It would be a great way to not only monitor but also optimize my energy consumption in real-time.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has tackled similar projects or has tips on how to make this system more robust. Whether it’s about perfecting the automation schedule, enhancing data visualization, or integrating additional smart home features, your insights would be invaluable!

Thanks in advance for your help and ideas. Let’s keep the conversation going and make our smart homes even smarter together! :rocket:
