Energy Dashboard Setup and Template Sensors Integration

Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey with Home Assistant and some of the challenges I’ve encountered along the way. I’ve been using HA for a while now, and it’s been a fantastic experience, but there are always those moments where you scratch your head wondering, ‘What am I doing wrong?’

One of the things I’ve been working on lately is setting up my energy dashboard. I have this sensor connected to my energy meter via MQTT, and while I can see the sensor data and its history, the energy dashboard just isn’t showing anything—just that dreaded ‘No matching statistics found’ message. I’ve double-checked my configuration, and it seems correct, but I’m clearly missing something. If anyone has tips or tricks for getting the energy dashboard to work properly, I’d be super grateful!

On another note, I’ve also been experimenting with template sensors. They’re such a powerful tool for creating custom sensors, like calculating dew points or tracking specific metrics. However, I’ve run into some issues when trying to move these template sensors into a separate sensors.yaml file. I keep getting errors, and I’m not sure if it’s a syntax issue or something else. If anyone has successfully integrated template sensors into their setup, I’d love to hear how you did it! :bulb:

I’m also curious about how others are handling their energy monitoring. Do you have any favorite integrations or tools that make tracking energy usage a breeze? I’m always looking for ways to optimize my setup and make it more user-friendly. :earth_africa::zap:

Lastly, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone in this community. The support and shared knowledge here are incredible, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a helpful and passionate group. Here’s to many more successful projects and happy automating! :tada:
