Energy-Saving Success: Cutting Hydro Bills by 35%

I wanted to share an exciting update about how we managed to slash our hydro bill by a whopping 35% this year! :earth_africa::sparkles:

Back in December, after a few days without power due to an outage, I received an email stating that our hydro rates were set to increase by 9.6%. It was a wake-up call to find ways to reduce our energy consumption.

After some research, I discovered that traditional kitchen appliances like stoves and ovens can consume a significant amount of energy. A typical stove uses around 5,000 watts, while a conventional oven uses 3,000 watts. Induction cooktops, on the other hand, use just 1,500 watts per element! This was a game-changer for us.

We decided to unplug our old kitchen stove and invested in two induction cooktops and a Ninja Foodi XL countertop convection oven. Each of these appliances uses 1,800 watts, which is a huge improvement over our previous setup. The results have been incredible—our monthly hydro bill has dropped by $50, and we’ve achieved a 35% overall saving!

Not only has this switch saved us money, but it’s also opened up new culinary possibilities. The induction cooktops are a breeze to use, and the convection oven has become a favorite for experimenting with new recipes. Plus, we’re still able to enjoy our beloved cookies every two weeks! :cookie::sparkles:

If anyone has tips or experiences on reducing energy consumption, I’d love to hear them! Let’s continue to find innovative ways to save energy and reduce our carbon footprint. :earth_africa::bulb:
