I recently installed the ENERWAVE Z-Wave Plus Dual Relay Module (ZWN-RSM2-PLUS) and wanted to share my experience. This device has been working great so far, and I’m really impressed with its functionality. I decided to pair it with standard wall switches, which has been a smooth process overall. However, I encountered an interesting challenge that I’d like to discuss and see if others have similar experiences or solutions.
The issue I faced is related to the synchronization between the physical wall switch and the relay module’s state. When the relay is toggled via Home Assistant (HA), the wall switch shows as off, but the light remains on. While this is manageable, I wanted to ensure that the physical switch’s state always reflects the actual light status, especially when the light is turned on or off by either the switch or HA. This led me to explore automation options within HA to achieve the desired behavior.
After some research, I found that setting up a macro or task within HA could help. The goal was to have HA recognize when the relay is activated via the wall switch and prevent conflicting actions. For instance, if HA had previously turned the light on, moving the wall switch to the on position should keep the light on, and moving it to off should turn the light off. I’m still experimenting with the exact automation setup, but I believe this approach will solve the issue.
I’d love to hear if others have encountered similar challenges or have successfully implemented a solution. If you have any tips or automation examples, please share them! It’s always great to learn from the community and improve my setup. Thanks for reading, and happy automating! ![]()
