Enhancing Accessibility with Smart Lock Integration

Greetings everyone, I’m JP from CareFree Smart Homes, and I’m thrilled to be part of this amazing community. Our mission is to leverage technology to enhance independence for individuals with disabilities, and I’m reaching out to seek your expertise on a particular project.

Currently, I’m working on a residential property where the goal is to integrate a motorized swing door with a Nuki cylinder lock. The challenge lies in ensuring seamless communication between the motorized swing arm and the lock system. Ideally, once the door is fully unlocked, there should be a 1-2 second pause before the swing arm opens the door, and upon closing, the lock should re-engage automatically.

I’ve been considering the use of a Hubitat C8 as the hub, paired with an Echo boundary router, given the property’s internet connectivity. However, I’m not entirely sure about the compatibility of the Nuki lock with this setup, especially in managing the weight of the door and ensuring fail-safe operation.

I’d greatly appreciate any insights or recommendations on whether this integration is feasible and how it could be implemented. Your collective wisdom would be invaluable in ensuring this solution is as robust and reliable as possible. Thank you in advance for your support!
