Enhancing Garage Security with Smart Technology

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience enhancing the security of my garage using smart technology. While my garage already had several security measures in place, like a MyQ opener with automatic locks and security film on the windows, I felt there was more I could do to protect my belongings.

After some research, I decided to add a glass break sensor to my garage. The windows in the garage door, despite the non-see-through film, were still a potential entry point. I reasoned that if someone were to break the glass, the sensor would immediately alert me through my alarm system.

I chose a glass break sensor that integrates seamlessly with my existing alarm system. The installation was straightforward—simply attaching it to the inside of the garage door. Now, I feel much more secure knowing that any attempt to break in through the windows would be detected instantly.

I also considered adding a tilt sensor on the garage door, but given the automatic locks on the side rails, I felt the glass break sensor was the more critical addition. It’s always good to think about the weakest links in your security setup and address them proactively.

For anyone else looking to enhance their garage security, I’d recommend evaluating your existing setup and identifying areas that could be improved. Whether it’s adding sensors, upgrading locks, or improving lighting, every little step contributes to a safer home.

If you’ve made any upgrades to your garage security, I’d love to hear about them! Let’s share tips and experiences to help each other stay safe.
