I’ve been on a journey to enhance my home security system, and I wanted to share my experiences and insights with the community. Recently, I’ve been exploring the integration of Ring Flood and Freeze Sensors into my setup, but I’ve encountered some challenges along the way. I’d love to hear from others who might have tackled similar issues or have tips to share!
One of the main issues I’ve faced is getting the Ring flood sensor to work seamlessly with my SmartThings Hub. While the sensor detects tampering without a hitch, the contact field doesn’t seem to respond when it’s submerged in water. I’ve tried including it with S2 security as suggested in some forums, but I’m still not seeing the results I expected. Has anyone successfully integrated these sensors with S2 security, or found a workaround for this issue?
In the meantime, I’ve been experimenting with automations to make the most of my setup. For instance, I’ve created a routine where my home lights turn on when I open the front door, but I’ve added a condition to skip this if the TV is already on. It’s a small touch, but it’s incredibly convenient—especially in the middle of the night when I don’t want to disturb anyone watching a movie!
I’d also love to hear about others’ experiences with RFXtrxcom plugin installations. I’ve run into some issues uploading the Lua file, encountering errors like “haserl CGI Error” or “internal server error.” Upgrading my firmware didn’t resolve the issue, and I’m wondering if there’s a size limit for luup file uploads or if there’s another method to get this plugin up and running smoothly.
On a lighter note, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with my Govee light strips. They’ve completely transformed my home’s ambiance, and the ability to customize scenes through the Govee Studio app is a game-changer. I’ve even started experimenting with DIY projects, like creating a backlit glass art display using Govee strips. It’s been a fun way to add a personal touch to my smart home setup!
If anyone has tips for troubleshooting sensor issues, plugin installations, or creative ways to use their smart devices, I’d be grateful to hear them. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most of our smart home systems! ![]()
