I’ve been exploring ways to enhance my home security system, and I stumbled upon an interesting solution using WyzeCam and IFTTT. Let me share my journey and some tips I’ve gathered along the way!

The Goal:
I wanted my living room WyzeCam to automatically turn on only when both my wife and I are away from home. It shouldn’t activate if either of us is still inside, unless we manually turn it on. This would save energy and ensure privacy while providing an extra layer of security when we’re out.

The Setup:
After some research, I found that integrating WyzeCam with IFTTT and Life360 could achieve this. Here’s how it works:

  1. Life360 Integration: I set up Life360 accounts for both of us. This app tracks our locations in real-time, which is crucial for determining when we’re both away.
  2. IFTTT Automation: I created an IFTTT applet that monitors our Life360 locations. When both of our devices show we’re outside the home perimeter, the applet triggers the WyzeCam to turn on.
