Enhancing Multi-Room Music with External Bluetooth Speakers

As a proud owner of several Echo devices, I’ve been on a journey to create the ultimate multi-room music experience. It all started when I upgraded my Echo Show 5 with high-quality Klipsch Bluetooth speakers, and the sound was nothing short of amazing. However, life took a turn when I decided to expand my setup with an Echo Show 8, an Echo Dot, and an Echo Pop. The goal was clear: to enjoy great music throughout my entire apartment.

The setup process was straightforward, but I quickly realized that using multi-room music with external Bluetooth speakers wasn’t as seamless as I hoped. My Echo Show 5, which had been the star of the show, suddenly couldn’t connect to the Klipsch speakers anymore. This was a setback, to say the least.

After some research and experimentation, I discovered that the multi-room music feature on Amazon devices primarily relies on the built-in speakers. This meant that my Klipsch speakers were being sidelined. I wasn’t willing to compromise on sound quality, so I decided to find a workaround.

Here’s what I did: I kept the Echo Show 5 in my main room and connected it directly to the Klipsch speakers using the Alexa app. For the other rooms, I used the Echo Dot and Echo Pop as standalone devices, ensuring they were all part of the same multi-room group. This way, I could enjoy good quality music in my main room while still having Alexa voice control throughout the apartment.

It’s been a learning process, but the results have been worth it. I now have a balanced system that combines the convenience of multi-room music with the superior sound quality of my Klipsch speakers. If you’re facing similar challenges, I’d recommend experimenting with direct connections and group setups. The key is to find a balance that works for your space and your preferences. Happy tweaking! :headphones:
