Hi everyone! I’ve been using SmartThings and Nest together, and everything has been working smoothly so far. I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone has tips on improving my setup.
Currently, I use Nest Manager to switch my Nest from Home to Away mode when my family leaves in the morning. This puts the thermostat into Eco mode, which is great for saving energy. However, I’d love to take this a step further. I’m trying to figure out how to have the Nest switch back to Home mode and adjust the temperature correctly when my wife is on her way home from work, which takes about an hour.
I’ve looked into using IFTTT for this, but it seems like the Nest needs to be in Home mode for certain triggers, which isn’t the case here. I wonder if there’s a workaround using IFTTT or SmartThings that I haven’t considered yet. Maybe there’s a way to use location-based triggers more effectively or integrate other smart home devices to make this happen smoothly.
I’d really appreciate any suggestions or experiences others have had with similar setups. It would be fantastic to have this automation working seamlessly, especially since it would make our home more comfortable and energy-efficient. Thanks in advance for your help!
